What Is Time to Talk Day?

Time to Talk Day is the UK’s biggest mental health conversation. It is organised by Mind and Rethink Mental Illness, in partnership with the Co-op, and supported by mental health organisations across Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales, and takes place every year on the first Thursday of February.

The aim of the day is simple; encourage people to talk openly and honestly about mental health. Whether at home, at work, in schools, or in the community, Time to Talk Day helps make conversations about emotional wellbeing feel normal and stigma-free.

Why It Matters

Talking about mental health can feel awkward or difficult, and many people don’t know how to start. But even a short conversation can make a real difference.

Time to Talk Day reminds us that every conversation counts. When people feel heard and understood, they are more likely to reach out for support when they need it.

Time to Talk Day at 8:56

At the 8:56 Foundation, Time to Talk Day is one of the most important dates in our calendar. Each year, our team spends the day walking, and driving around west Norfolk, visiting local businesses to start meaningful conversations about men’s mental health and wellbeing in Norfolk.

During our visits, we:

  • Share tips on creating open, supportive workplaces

  • Highlight the services we offer

  • Signpost to other local and national support

  • And of course… bring tea and biscuits

We love connecting with local businesses and communities to talk about how we can all help reduce stigma and support better mental wellbeing.
